Experience: Rick has been in local real estate since 1970 and owned his own successful acreage marketing firm for ten of those years. Rick also has extensive experience in land development and excavation. "It is most satisfying to be helping the children and parents of previous clients."
Education: He studied Engineering at Cornell University and has completed over 30 specialized real estate courses around the country, including taxation, land development, single family home investing, finance, conservation easements and real estate counseling.
Professional Affiliations: Merrill holds the Accredited Land Consultant(ALC) designation, the Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), the Accredited Luxury Home Specialist (ALHS) and the E-Pro designation of the National Association of Realtors, was SE Regional Vice President of the Realtors Land Institute, and was President of the Hendersonville Board of Realtors.
Community Involvement: Rick serves on the land committees of Carolina Mountain Land Conservancy and Historic Flat Rock. He is President of CMLC and First VP of HFR. He was involved with the Mud Creek Watershed Restoration Council. Rick served as past Chairman of the Flat Rock Planning Board, past Vice-Chair of the Apple Country Greenways Commission, past President of Designing Our Future; a grassroots community visioning process, and was active with the Henderson County Transportation Advisory Committee. He enjoys sharing his job related skills on local quality of life issues.
Focus: Acreage, fine homes and commercial property are his areas of involvement. He is a ten million dollar plus producer and typically closes in excess of forty transactions per year.
Personal: He and his wife, JoAnne, have three adult children.Gardening and mechanics are hobbies. They live on a horse farm in Flat Rock, North Carolina.
